We have never faced such a dark time in our nation's history. On April 7, 2026, Trump posted on Truth Social, "A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again," in reference to Iran. Trump threatened the "complete demolition" of Iranian power plants and bridges if the Strait of Hormuz was not reopened, warning he would bomb the country "back to the Stone Age".
Legal experts, human rights organizations, and historians have described these statements as a direct declaration of genocidal intent under the Genocide Convention, which defines it as acts committed "with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such."
Since that horrific post, more than 85 House Democrats have called for President Trump to be impeached or removed via the 25th Amendment. Among those are members of House Democratic leadership and prominent lawmakers such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries announced a 25th Amendment briefing to be led by Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) on Friday.
Importantly, top MAGA pundits, including Alex Jones, Candace Owens, and Marjorie Taylor Greene, have also demanded that Trump be REMOVED from office by the 25th Amendment after Trump threatened to destroy Iran’s entire civilization.
No one reasonably believes that Republicans, in great enough numbers, will invoke the 25th Amendment or support impeachment. Does that mean that we stay silent and do nothing? Absolutely not. Elevating the electorate's desire for Trump to be replaced with Members of Congress, especially Republicans, puts more pressure on them to, at a minimum, work to intervene in his warped decision-making process moving forward.
But how can those of us in blue states and districts influence GOP members in Congress? We know that calling reps other than our own is not recommended or productive. A crucial way to impede Trump is to build community and trust by broadening the circle of people with whom we are interacting.
ACTIONS TO TAKE TODAY:
STEP 1 - Call your own reps. Democrats need to hear from constituents so that that even more will start publicly calling for Trump's removal. Using 5calls.org or the 5Calls phone app makes it easy. Click here for phone numbers and a script.
STEP 2 - VERY IMPORTANT - Help pressure the GOP members of Congress through 1:1 outreach to your friends and family in red and purple states. Often called "relational outreach," this tactic is THE most effective form of voter outreach because people who know you are more likely to engage with you.
Start with an open-ended conversation about the state of our country. Regardless of their political persuasion, some of them may express a level of discontent with how things are going since Trump took office. In these cases, the conversation provides you with a great opportunity to encourage them to contact their senators and representatives to express their unhappiness on any issues that matter to them. And when your friends and family reach out to their friends and family, our impact will grow exponentially

Brainstorm a list of people you plan to contact.
Think about your friends and family. Are any of them from red or purple areas, or did they ever live in one? Do they have contacts there?
Review your list of friends on Facebook.
Think of people you know from work or school - even “way back when.”
Don’t be shy. If you’ve lost touch with some of your contacts, they will likely be pleased to hear from you now!
Decide which method of communication is best for each contact.
Phone - a good way to connect with an old friend or a family member
Text - the preferred method for many younger people
Email - good for former colleagues, classmates, etc.
