These are difficult days for our country as we face an authoritarian administration intent on destroying the values and institutions that have always defined our democracy. Our team at IndiMarin is committed to supporting our community of volunteers and developing impactful programming for the resistance movement as well as important upcoming elections.
In these precarious times, collective action is an imperative. There ARE many ways that we can each take easy actions to push back against the authoritarian creep of the Administration and its GOP enablers in Congress.
AUGUST PRIORITIES
We have identified two key priorities for the month of August: 1) Grow the movement by engaging more of our friends and neighbors through relational organizing and 2) Pitch in to keep Virginia blue. Early voting starts on September 19 so the work in the month of August is critical.
Grow the movement
At our August 19 General Meeting and our Activism 101 Workshop, we will be presenting a simple and easy toolkit for ways you can help grow the movement through conversations and gathering with people in your personal circles. Please sign up for one or both of those meetings (listed below) to learn more and get started.
Turn Virginia Blue!
Virginia is one of only two states which hold their major statewide elections in odd years. The other is New Jersey, which is reliably blue. Since Virginia is a purple state, its odd-year elections are widely seen as a predictor of the relative strength of the two Parties in advance of the all-important midterms the following year. Given this pattern, a BIG win for Virginia this year is hugely important on many levels. Early voting starts on September 19 so our work in August will pay big dividends!
