Midterms 2026

November 4th was a big day. Proposition 50 in CA evened the playing field for the 2026 midterms and the work to win them starts now.
Once voters make their decision on the party they will support, they are less likely to change their mind. The sooner voters see a volunteer presence in their districts, the sooner they begin thinking about their vote.

Candidates will declare their candidacy for new blue CA districts in the next few months and launch their campaigns. Democratic incumbents will soon ramp up their campaigns against the GOP MAGA majority. In battleground districts currently held by Republicans, we will soon start laying out the framework for 2026 messaging against their records, like voting to cut Medicaid. All Democratic candidates will need our help building their operations and getting their message out. Voter outreach programs in phonebanking, canvassing, and postcarding will begin in the next few months. Look for updates and opportunities via our newsletters and on this site!

KEY GOALS:

Flipping the House:
A Democratic majority in the House would be the most powerful tool in fighting the atrocities of the Trump Administration. The current small Republican majority and the low approval ratings for the President and his party have created a clear road to winning back control of the House. We need to flip just 3 seats. The House is the #1 2026 priority. However, redistricting in Texas and CA have reshaped the House landscape. Ongoing redistricting efforts in other states and courts cases will ultimately finalize our target districts and strategy. We anticipate a final picture in early January and will update this page at that time.

Reducing the GOP Senate Majority: Although the road to Senate control is very challenging with limited opportunities to gain the four seats we need, we could narrow the GOP majority and position ourself to retake control in 2028 when we have more opportunities.

  • The priority is to hold Jon Ossoff’s seat in Georgia.

  • Top pick up opportunities will be in North Carolina and Maine. Work will begin after 2026 spring primaries.

Incumbent Fundraising: Now is an excellent time to begin supporting our incumbents who ideally should take advantage of this time to build an early fundraising and field advantage.

  • House Frontline Candidates: You can donate to individual candidates via these links or to a general fund supporting all of them.

  • State parties - States with strong parties have the best records of House race success in the past few cycles. They are better able to coordinate volunteer energy and resources around key races.  We encourage supporting them via individual donations. Choose any state which matters to you.

  • Senate
