White Supremacy

Resources and Toolkits for Fighting White Supremacy

With white supremacists in the White House and their enablers in Congress and state houses across the country, citizens must get up to speed on who they are and what they do so that we can be most effective in fighting them. We will update this post with resources and toolkits from anti-racist and anti-bigotry organizations who are the experts. Please educate yourself by reading these toolkits, and sharing them with your friends and family.

For white people, it is critical to get up to speed quickly. Be prepared to be uncomfortable. You will be confronted by people of color and/or white people who have been educating themselves on anti-racism when you say things you may not yet realize are micro-aggressions to oppressed communities. The most common one is when you express shock ("I can't believe this is our country/city/community!") or when you center yourself by saying things like, "I'm not racist/sexist/anti-Semitic." This will happen online often, especially when commenting on shared news items on Facebook or other social media channels. Our advice is to not comment if your first reaction is to center yourself. Take a beat, and listen to what people being most affected by white supremacy are saying.
