Wednesday night, Indivisible Marin hosted a Candidates’ Forum for the District Attorney race in Marin County with a special focus on three social justice issues: Immigration, Environmental Justice and Racial Equity. Following the candidates’ remarks, members of Indivisible Marin present at the Forum convened and voted overwhelmingly to endorse Anna Pletcher based on her demonstrated passion for and alignment with our priorities for advancing social justice in Marin. Read the press release announcing our endorsement here.
Before getting involved in this race, many of us were unaware that a woman raped in Marin County must travel over an hour to Vallejo to get the forensic medical examination that is needed to try and convict her rapist; that Latino youths are twice as likely and Black youths are 14 times more likely, to be arrested for curfew violations than White youths in Marin; that our Sheriff's office disregards the spirit of the California Sanctuary State immigration laws, and that the current DA’s office has pursued virtually no cases to protect our environment. For all these reasons, we recommend that you vote for Anna Pletcher in the primary election on June 5. In coming weeks, we will let you know about how you can get involved in supporting Anna's campaign.
